During the last week of September, from the 24th to the 26th, the project “Empowering local authorities and civil society to deliver solutions with participative democracy” , supported by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) programme, entered a new phase.
After the first step of assessment-visits in the targeted cities of Ukraine and Moldova, a detailed report has been drafted, describing and analysing the findings, through the Eloge methodology. Different local authorities and civil society organisations have been interviewed in order to identify the real needs of the communities, through the understanding of trends, weaknesses and existing best-practices.
On that basis, the first cycle of training has been delivered, starting from the city of Mariupol. The 3-day course addressed local authorities, deputies and civil society organisations and it aimed at transferring knowledge skills on participative democracy and concrete methods of participation in order to enable participants to put in place such a process to find shared solutions to local problems.
Our Secretary-General, Antonella Valmorbida, who delivered the training, stated that participants were ready and inclined to acquire that kind of information.
All in all, a fertile ground has been found and two possible plans of actions were put forward as follow-up to the training activity: the first concerns youth, the other applies to the optimisation management of services.
