Cantemir municipal officials are able to work more efficiently thanks to the technology provided by Norway, a project carried out by the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) in cooperation with the Norwegian Mapping Agency Statens Kartverket and the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre (ARFC).
Mayor Roman Ciubaciuc is convinced that the residents of Cantemir stand to gain from this generous gesture, as it increases the speed of work and the productivity of officials in heritage management and spatial planning. “The implementation of any new technology improves the quality of public service and administrative act, providing new possibilities for registration, planning and decision-making. The city of Cantemir is the beneficiary of another large energy efficiency project, an important component of which aims to use biomass as an energy resource. With the help of the technique provided by Norway we can easily map the availability of biomass on the territory of our administrative-territorial unit. The implementation of this project is a very good example of cooperation between local and central levels of government in the successful implementation of internationally funded projects.”
Corina Graur, a specialist in land tenure regulation, says that by using a high-performance computer with specialized programs, it is easy to carry out land monitoring actions and keep track of other objects and processes in the city. “As a result, we can identify free areas of land with investment potential that can be offered to economic agents for development.”
